Interactive Health Fair in Cottonwood August 18
The Partnership for Healthy Communities (a coalition of 6 health systems and 2 county service agencies) will be hosting an Interactive Health Fair on Thursday, August 18th from 1-5 at the Cottonwood Community Hall. Yes, this event is during Idaho County Fair Week with the hope of engaging as many Fair attendees in the event as possible.
What is an Interactive Health Fair and why encourage people to participate? Leah Kaschmitter, Community Health Worker for the Cottonwood area explains by saying… “An Interactive Fair means you aren’t just walking around looking at displays and picking up handouts. At this Health Fair you are an active participant in the displays and can take away valuable information as it impacts your health.” There will be Tai Chi and Yoga demonstrations, a massage therapist, a physical activity trainer, food demonstrations, music therapy, herbal remedies, and even something for your pets. In addition there will be a Benefits Counselor onsite to assist with insurance enrollment and answer questions about the upcoming Open Enrollment periods for Medicare and what you may qualify for. Community Health Workers will be on hand to provide FREE health screenings for diabetes, heart disease, mood disorders, obesity and colon cancer. A facial Derma Scan will be available so that you can see what is going on with the skin on your face.
Come on out and enjoy a fun afternoon in a cool setting and learn how you can improve your health by taking small steps to achieve big goals! For further information please contact Leah Kaschmitter at 553-7878. We hope to see you there! Children under the age of 18 must have parental permission to participate in the free health screenings so bring the entire family and cool off while having a good time.
