Wemhoff has huge game in win

The win keeps the Pirates atop the league standings at a perfect 5-0 (6-1 overall) and clinched a state playoff berth for the fourth year in a row.
It didn’t take long for Wemhoff to put his stamp on the game. Prairie received the opening kickoff, taking over at their 35 after the kick went out of bounds. Wemhoff had runs of 25, 17 and 17 yards in that first drive with the second 17 yard run going for the touchdown just 89 seconds into the contest.
Wallace was stopped on fourth down at their own 43 on their first possession with Prairie taking over at that point. 3 plays later Wemhoff scored his second touchdown of the game, from 18 yards out, and this time also ran in the 2-pointer for a 14-0 Pirates lead.
Wallace put a drive together on their second possession but it stalled out at the Prairie 22 with a fumble. Spencer Schumacher recovered the ball at the 22.
After an incomplete pass on first down, Wemhoff scored his third touchdown of the game on a 78 yard run. The 2-point try was stopped but Prairie now led 20-0 with 3:14 left in the opening quarter.
Wallace again was stopped on downs at the Prairie 42.
Prairie put together another scoring drive with the big plays coming on the pass this time as Schumacher connected with Derik Shears for 9 yards and later with Jake Stubbers for 30 yards.
The drive was capped off with Hunter Chaffee catching a 2 yard touchdown pass from Schumacher to make it 26-0 as the 2-point try failed.
Prairie got the ball right back when Wallace fumbled the kickoff and Brandon Anderson recovered at the Wallace 47.
Prairie had to convert a fourth and 9 on this drive with Schumacher connecting with Chaffee for 10 yards and a first down at the 36.
3 plays later Schumacher connected with Stubbers for 40 yards and another Pirates touchdown. Schumacher then passed to Chaffee for the 2-pointer to make it 34-0.
Wallace finally got on the scoreboard on their next possession with a 26 yard pass completion and a 28 yard run being the big plays.
Prairie stopped the 2-point try and led 34-6.
Each team had the ball twice more in the first half but neither could move the ball. Prairie’s two possessions ended in a fourth down sack and a fumble while Wallace was stopped on downs twice.
Wallace received the second half kickoff and took over at their own 34. On their first play from scrimmage Wallace runner J. Dimitroff went 66 yards for a touchdown. L. Gallagher then scored the 2-pointer to cut Prairie’s lead to 34-14.
Wallace got the ball right back when they recovered an onside kick at the Prairie 49 but gave it right back to Prairie 2 plays later on a fumble. Carson Schmidt recovered at the Prairie 49.
Prairie moved the ball down to the 27 then suffered back to back false start penalties to move them back to the 37.
Schumacher then connected with Anderson for 26 yards to the 11 for a first down.
On the next play Wemhoff scored his fourth touchdown of the game on an 11 yard run. The 2-point try again failed as Prairie led 40-14.
Wallace turned the ball over on downs on their next possession but Prairie was forced to punt.

4 plays later Wemhoff scored his fifth touchdown of the game on a 21 yard run. Schumacher passed to Anderson for the 2-pointer to make it 48-14 with 15 seconds left in the third quarter.
Wallace came right back with a 55 yard pass play that set them up with a first and goal at the 5. They scored on the next play as the third quarter ended to cut the deficit to 48-20.
Prairie had to turn the ball over on downs on their next possession as Wallace finally figured out how to stop Wemhoff.
Wallace took over at the 50 but two plays later Chaffee intercepted a pass at the Prairie 40 and took it all the way back for a touchdown. The 2 point try failed but Prairie now led 54-20.
On Wallace’s next possession a botched punt play led to Prairie taking over at the Wallace 15 yard line.
A holding penalty set back the Pirates to the 25 but Anderson picked up 23 on the next play to set up first and goal at the 2. Anderson scored on the next play and Schumacher passed to Stubbers for the 2-pointer to make it 62-20.
Wallace scored one last time when they returned the ensuing kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown to make it 62-26.
They then recovered the onside kick but the quarterback was sacked on the next play and fumbled with Schumacher recovering at the Wallace 35.
Prairie turned the ball over on downs at the 36 but Wallace fumbled the ball right back with Schmidt making his second fumble recovery of the game at the 19. Prairie then ran out the clock.
Prairie had 238 yards rushing led by Wemhoff with Anderson adding 47 yards on 14 carries. Schumacher got sacked a couple of times to bring the yardage total down.
Schumacher completed 11 of 22 passes for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns. Stubbers caught 4 for 82 yards and a touchdown. Anderson caught 3 for 35 yards. Chaffee caught 2 for 12 yards and a touchdown. Damian Forsmann caught 1 for 31 yards and Derik Shears caught 1 for 9 yards. Prairie had 407 yards of offense.
Wallace had 104 yards rushing on 36 attempts with Dimitroff gaining 110 on 15 carries. Gallagher added 47 on 11 carries. Sacks and bad punt plays led to 53 yards in losses.
Quarterback Z. Hunter was 6 for 20 for 108 yards with 1 interception. M. Farkas caught 3 for 44, S. Dellinger caught 2 for 60 and Dimitroff caught 1 for 4 yards.
Caleb McWilliams led the defense with 9 tackles with Schumacher collecting 7 and a fumble recovery. Chaffee had 5½  with an interception. Anderson also had 5½ and a fumble recovery. Wemhoff had 4, Raice Dalgliesh had 3, Jace Perrin and Stubbers 2 each and Schmidt had 1 and 2 fumble recoveries.
