Pirates lose to Lapwai
Despite outgaining the Wildcats by nearly 200 yards the Prairie football team lost 40-54 to Lapwai on Senior night Friday, Oct. 28 at Cottonwood.
Points off turnovers, lack of fourth down conversions in Lapwai territory and a special teams touchdown were the difference in the game.

Meanwhile Lapwai turned the ball over twice and Prairie scored 0 points off of those.Brandon Anderson gave Prairie the early lead after catching a pass from Spencer Schumacher, background, and going 29 yards for a touchdown.

With just over a minute left in the half, Prairie went to a no-huddle hurry-up offense and had their first real success since early in the first quarter. Schumacher completed passes of 22 yards to Anderson on a slant and 35 to Wemhoff on a deep sideline route that put Prairie at the Lapwai 18.
3 plays later Wemhoff ran a deep route drawing the defender with and Schumacher connected with Anderson who ran a shorter pattern underneath. Anderson caught the ball at about the 10 and took it in for the scored. The 2-point try failed making it 20-34 which is where the score stood at the half.
