Girls to play Liberty Charter in state opener
The Prairie Lady Pirates will open state tournament play at 7 p.m. PST Thursday, Feb. 16 at Columbia High School in Nampa.
They will play Liberty Charter of Nampa, the third place team in District 3.
If they win Thursday they would play the Valley-Horseshoe Bend winner Friday at 7 p.m. PST. With a loss they would play the Valley-Horseshoe Bend loser at 2 p.m. PST on Friday. Horseshoe Bend is the District 3 champion while Valley is the District 4 runner-up.
Lapwai plays Troy at 2 p.m. PST on Thursday. The other two teams in their half of the bracket are Oakley and Idaho City. Oakley is the District 4 champion and Idaho City is the District 3 runner-up.
The only other local school at state is Nezperce in the 1-A Division 2 tournament. They will open play at 2 p.m. PST against Carey at Nampa High School.
