Have you claimed the Google listing for your business?
No matter whether a business or organization has a website or not they are most likely automatically listed on Google Search.  It is important for a business to do what is called Claiming their Business.  This allows the business to input store hours, web links, and other info.  This type of info comes up when anyone does a Google search on the business.  A Claimed Business also receives better search rankings on Google. Additionally it is possible for someone else not connected to the business to claim it; which gives control over the listing to someone else.
So how does one find out if their business has been claimed? Do a Google Search on your business name.  A boxed section (right column on desktops) is the Google info.  If somewhere in that box you see the words, “Is this your business?” that means your business has not be claimed.  To claim it click on the “Is this your business?” which opens a new screen with easy instructions on how to claim your business.

Frances Conklin says she did a random Google search of various Cottonwood businesses she found 10 out of 15 businesses/organizations she searched were NOT claimed.  The five claimed businesses in her quick survey were: Camas Prairie Insurance; The Hangout; Country Haus/Village Motel; Dog Bark Park and Cottonwood Police Dept.
