keep Center for Discovery going
You have a unique opportunity to help make an impact in the lives of Cottonwood families. The Center For Discovery After School Program is a locally operated program for our community’s youth. The Center For Discovery is provides a great opportunity for contributors’ dollars to stay in the community, help our local economy and support our local families. This program was created more than 17 years ago with a handful of community members that recognized a need for an after-school program that would offer a safe homelike environment. The Center For Discovery has been a part of our community for the past seventeen years. It is well known that kids get into a lot of trouble after school hours and we just want to keep our kids safe. We have provided a safe place for all children to go after school. We provide homework help so that all our kids can succeed and feel successful. We provide snack and activities for the kids to do. Over the past 17 years the Center For Discovery has provided the Missoula Children’s Theatre, Kindness Rocks, Community Carnivals, Multiplication in a Week, Swimming Lessons, Open til Midnight, Kids Shopping Day, and community cleanup just to name a few activities. We have had to cut a couple of these programs, but we don’t like to. We want to continue to provide our same program. Though our parents pay fees for their kids to attend the Center, these fees do not begin to cover the program’s cost. We have been very lucky to have to do minimal fundraising over the years. When we started 17 years ago we started with just 10 kids for the first year and now this year we have served 140 between our after school preschool program and our after school program. We need your donations to continue our quality programming and serving our community’s children. If you would like to make a donation to keep our center going please send your check payable to Center For Discovery to PO Box 453, Cottonwood, Idaho 83522. Idaho taxpayers who donate cash to an Idaho school or applicable school programs can receive an Idaho tax credit in addition to being a tax deductible charitable donation. The tax credit is 50% of the taxpayer’s Idaho income tax liability limited to $500 ($1,000 on a joint return). A typical taxpayer in the 15% tax bracket who also itemizes would receive tax deductions and credits equal to $724 on a donation to an Idaho school of $1,000 resulting in a net cost to the taxpayer of $276 while providing a $1,000 benefit to the Center! Partnerships and S Corporations pass this credit through to their Idaho partners, shareholders or members. For corporate taxpayers, the maximum annual credit is $5,000.
