School Board meets
The school board held their regular May meeting Monday, May 15 and opened bids for the track rubberizing.
There was just one bid received, from The Track Doctor, for $77,500. This was about $3,000 less than what Ryan Hasselstrom had been quoted. A motion was made and passed to accept the bid. 
Hasselstrom said he was told the work would be done by mid-July.
The board also saved some money in approving the auditor for this school year. Presnell & Gage, which has been the district’s auditor submitted a bid of $8,600. Quest CPAs of Payette submitted a bid of $6,200. Denise Uhlenkott reported other clerks who work with Quest say they do a very good job.
Pat Alfrey made the motion to go with Quest CPA’s and Tara Klapprich seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The resignation of the elementary school janitor was approved and Michael Van Houten was approved for hire as the new janitor. 
Julie “Mrs. Doug” Schumacher was approved as the new head volleyball coach for the high school. She will now serve as head coach for both junior high and high school creating continuity. Cheyanne Hudson had accepted a teaching and coaching position at Grangeville.
Section 8 of the policy manual was approved pending one question Superintendent Rene’ Forsmann has for the state. Section 9 was submitted for review and will be further discussed next month.
Use of the school’s football equipment for football camp was approved.
In the facility report, Forsmann said the bathroom update at the football field house is nearly finished and the carpet in Suzi Quintal’s office is done. The rest of the list of items presented at the last couple of meetings is slated to be worked on once school is out for the summer.
In her principal’s report Forsmann said they screened 36 Kindergarten age children this year and are looking at 30 possible Kindergarten students next fall.
Elementary Spring Concerts are set for next week with grades 4-6 at 7 p.m. May 23 and Grades Pre-3 for 1 p.m. on May 24, both at the Elementary Gym.
In her superintendent’s report she listed some of the meetings she has been attending.  She also reported the school lunch prices will need to go up for next year. They are looking at $2.05 for the Elementary and $2.55 for the jr./sr. high.
A District retirement party is set for May 31 at 4 p.m.
Carrie Nygaard reported that EMTs will be training at the building on June 9-10.
The jr./sr. high concert will be Wednesday, May 17 at 7 p.m.
Local law enforcement will have a presentation for the 8th grade on “Small Decisions” that may impact your life.
The awards assembly will be May 25 starting at 10 a.m. That will also be the day incoming grade 7-12 students will run through their schedule for next year. That afternoon will be senior appreciation day.
Graduation will be Friday, May 26 at 7 p.m. They will have to do something different for the flag salute as the NICI color guard members will all be away in Boise for training.
The meeting adjourned at 7:49 p.m. the next regular meeting will be Monday, June 19 at 7 p.m.
