Cottonwood City Council meets
The Cottonwood City Council held their regular September meeting Monday, Sept. 11.
The memorandum of understanding with the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office was approved with a minor revision in the termination section.
The Cottonwood Creek culvert replacement was discussed and it was decided to move forward with grant preparation. The grant they are looking at would require a 25% match on a guesstimated $1 to $2 million, or more project. Moving forward allows them to get the engineers involved to estimate what needs to be done.
Don Munkers appeared and put in a request to waive the hall rental for his free yoga classes. This was approved for a year by the Council.
Gabe Riener was present to discuss streets, water and sewer options for property he is purchasing across highway 95. This area is platted as part of the city but has never been improved.
Discussion was tabled on the water and sewer improvements Ben Munger asked about at the August meeting.
It was voted to keep the building code as is.
Nearly $300 worth of bad debts were written off. About $220 of that was unpaid utility bills.
There was discussion about sidewalk Pepper Harman is looking to install alongside his property on Front Street. Basically where the Farm Credit Building is located and the property behind where he is excavating for a new shop. No action was taken.
Catering permits were approved for Rodonna’s for the Nate Gentry benefit on Sept. 16 and the Brats & Brew in the Hall for the Library on Oct. 21. Also for Wolftrack for their event on Oct. 7.
In reports 2 water leaks were found and fixed. No report on the water usage.
Ron Grant reported lagoon testing is currently being done with 4 of them passing and the fifth still being tested.
Jack Duman reported closeouts are being done on financing with the Idaho Transportation Dept. regarding the sidewalk project.
Shelli Schumacher reported an awning is currently being added on the south side of the Hall.
Grant reported there was just 1 fire call, a rural one where they sent the tanker truck, in the past month.
Linda Nida reported the airport inspection showed there was some minor repairs needed.
The next regular meeting of the council will be Tuesday, October 10 due to the Columbus Day holiday on their normal meeting day.
