School Board meets
The school board held their regular September meeting Monday, Sept. 18.
The auditor’s report was received with the auditor telling them they’re doing a great job. The report was given via teleconference.
Superintendent Rene’ Forsmann said the cleanup at the old Elementary School is proceeding but that they are going to have to put off the Request for Proposals for at least a month due to some legalities.  They may also have to have a new appraisal done. Both are due to the fact they are looking at keeping the gym and offering for sale the classrooms and land.
A couple of coaching resignations were accepted. Seth Guyer resigned as boys JV basketball coach due to conflicts with a new job. Taylor Schaeffer resigned as junior high assistant track coach, also due to conflict with a new job.
Enrollment data was reviewed with total school enrollment at 407 this year compared to 403 last year at the same time. Forsmann said they have 3 more students coming in to the elementary in early October.
The state Idaho School Board Association conference in Coeur d’Alene and the regional ISBA meeting in Lewiston were discussed.
The board approved proceeding with an emergency provisional certificate for a school psychologist due to the trouble finding someone who could serve the district.
The football/track bleachers were on the agenda but Ryan Hasselstrom and Teel Bruner were unable to attend due to a JV football game at Kamiah.
In the facilities update Forsmann reported they traded the school 4-wheller in for a newer model. A 2103 Polaris as opposed to a 2005. $2500 cost after the trade-in.
The re-keying of the school buildings will be done in October by Fischer Systems. They will be going to a key fob system and keep much closer track of keys.
In the administrative reports Forsmann noted they are busy testing on the MAP, IRI and STAR. She also reported that pictures were done Sept. 12-13.
Jon Rehder reported they finished up MAP testing.
Dual credit registration has been completed.
He also reported they had representatives from Carroll College and Boise State at the high school on Monday.
He has sent out parent, teacher and student surveys as part of the accreditation process and has had good response.
Concrete barriers have been added at the football field and ropes and barrels were put around the long jump pit to eliminate driving on them at the football games.
Homecoming Week is next week.
Richard Lane spoke to the 5th-12th graders in the PHS gym at an afternoon assembly Sept. 13. He was well-received.
The pop machine has been taken out with the one remaining having just sugar-free options of water, G2 Gatorade and 4 Vita-Ice flavors.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:19 p.m. With the next meeting the board will go to winter schedule with meetings starting at 5:30 p.m. The next meeting will be Monday, October 16 at 5:30 p.m.
