Cottonwood elects two new council members
In the first contested race for Cottonwood City Council in many years 2 incumbents were ousted by the voters.
Daniel Sigler outpolled Linda Nida 79-42 for the 2-year position on the Council. Nida had been appointed to replace Shelli Schumacher’s council position when Schumacher was appointed mayor.
In a 3-way race for 2 four-year positions Pat Holthaus was re-elected with 98 votes with Lynn Guyer receiving 78 votes for the second position and incumbent Ron Grant receiving 52 votes. 
Seth (Pepper) Harman was the only person running for mayor and received 91 votes.
There were 121 total ballots cast out of 472 registered voters for a 26% turnout.
The races in Ferdinand all went to the incumbents who were unopposed.
Scott Oliver received 20 votes for Mayor with Michele Lindgren receiving 13 votes and Ronald W. Riener 19 votes for the two 4-year council positions up for election.
Ferdinand had 20 ballots cast out of 74 registered voters for a 27% turnout.
