Hinkelman named Father of the Year
Aaron Hinkelman was named Father of the Year at the Prairie League Daddy Date Night.
He was bestowed the honor based on the essay submitted by his daughter Madison. Her winning poem follows:
My Teddy Bear
To be heard without saying a word,
To be hugged without asking,
To be understood when I’m confused,
To be able to ask you anything and you never refused.
You always make me feel brand new,
So rare is a Dad like you.
To be part of your life,
Is the best gift you’ve given me,
Your loving smile and contagious laugh,
When I am stressed.
You then tell me it’s just a test.
Your endless wisdom and timeless advice
Always help me find my way,
Especially through the mourning times,
You were there through the growing torment
Your patience and love that you always sent.
In you there is no equal,
You’re in a class all your own.
Your love and support,
Is what keeps me going throughout the day,
To go to every one of my games even far,
Or when you bought me my car.
And because of all the love you give me
I’ll never be alone.
It’s an honor to know you,
To share stories and dreams.
Watching hockey will always be a memory,
Or when you took me to ski.
You always make me smile,
No matter how tough life seems.
You’re special beyond compare,
Your heart so kind and true.
The kisses on the forehead every night,
After you squeeze me tight.
Even though my thoughts are not spoken,
It means a lot to me.
The way you look and talk to me.
You always know how to make me happy,
Just like when you see a hockey player being chippy.
One of these days I’m going to become more mature,
But I will never forget my first love,
The man to whom gave me a lot of spanking and lessons.
I am the luckiest daughter,
To have a dad like you.
