New CEO at Syringa Hospital
Syringa Hospital & Clinics has announced Abner King, FACHE, as its new Chief Executive Officer. King willAbner King begin working in this new position on January 9. He most recently worked as the Chief Operating Officer at Steele Memorial Medical Center in Salmon, Idaho. 
King has more than 30 years’ experience in health care and hold his Master’s in business administration from the University of Central Florida. He is also board-certified as a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“The Board was impressed by Mr. King's service at many levels of the health care business, from lab technologist to interim CEO, and his continued efforts to prepare himself for more and more responsibility,” said Al Bolden, chairman of the Syringa Hospital District board of trustees. 
“I'm very excited about moving to Grangeville,” King said. “I'm looking forward to leading Syringa Hospital & Clinics.”
During King’s 18 years with Steele Memorial, the organization grew from a struggling rural hospital with limited services to a nationally-recognized critical access hospital. For three years in a row, Steele Memorial was recognized as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital.
King’s appointment as CEO will also initiate a new agreement between Syringa and Kootenai Health. Under the agreement, Syringa Hospital & Clinics will contract with Kootenai Health to assist with operations management. King will technically be an employee of Kootenai Health that is leased back to Syringa as part of the agreement.
Syringa’s CEO and staff will have access to support services from Kootenai, including group purchasing agreements, training and education for staff, compliance, policies, clinical protocols and procedures, peer networking, strategic planning, and revenue strategies.
