The regular monthly meeting of the Prairie Community Library Board of Directors was called to order by President Kathleen Steinke at 1:38 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Members present in addition to Kathleen were Kristina Villamor, Laurine Nightingale, Colleen Wilson, and Cindy Wilson. Member Nadine Knowles was absent. Minutes and treasurer's reports, including a year end report, were approved as presented. Discussion of e-books and possibly obtaining a Kindle resulted in Cindy volunteering to do a bit more follow-up research. The Board is researching an updated computer input program, Handy Library, on a trial basis for thirty days, to see if this one would serve our patrons' needs better, and be more cost effective. Revisions of Bylaws and Policies, Rules and Regulations is being prepared by a committee. It will be presented to the Board to be voted on at a future monthly meeting. An amount of $1000 was voted in for a book buying budget for 2018. Election of officers will be held at the February meeting. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 3:11 pm. The February monthly meeting will be on Tuesday, February 13 at 1:30 pm in the Library, you are welcome to join in on the meeting, too. The Board welcomes any comments, suggestions you may have. The Library is here as a service for you. Library hours are Tuesday and Thursday 10 am to 6 pm.
