Cold and flu season keeps blood drive from reaching goal
“A lot of our regular donors were unable to donate this time due to suffering from either a cold or the flu,” commented Brenda Kaschmitter, Blood Drive Co-Chair.  “Even with all the colds and flu going around we still got 66 usable units which is just a little bit below our goal of 73.
Once again a big thank you to all the wonderful volunteers; without them this blood drive would not be possible; Judy Forsmann, Joyce Lorentz, Mary Lorentz, Lydia Deiss, Doris Sonnen, Bobbie Schmidt, Carol Lauer, and Anna Kaschmitter.  The volunteer duties include helping set up, escorting donors, checking in donors and offering maple bars and juice. We have some of the best volunteers around.
Brenda and co-chair Donna Quick would also like to extend a really big thank you to the employees of St. Mary’s Hospital for their support of the blood drive by coming in and donating.  And thanks to St. Mary’s Hospital for supplying the maple bars for our donors, and for loaning us the maintenance crew for setting up and taking down the tables and chairs.
We would also like to acknowledge our two of our first time donors Ryan Arnzen and Zachary Reuter.  Both these young men came in with their moms Jenny Arnzen and Christine Reuter, who are very faithful donors.  Thanks guys!
“We hope to see all our past donors as well as some new donors at our next blood drive which will be on April 10th,” said Kaschmitter.  “If you would like to make an appointment please feel free to contact either myself or Donna Quick at 962-3251.”
