Old Elementary building finally sold
The School Board received two bids for the old Elementary School building and property with Ryan Uhlenkott submitting the high bid of $201,000.
Bids were opened at the April meeting of the School Board, Monday, April 16.
The other bid was just over the minimum bid of $120,000. The board approved Uhlenkott’s bid and the two parties will proceed with the necessary paperwork.
The money from the sale would go into the school’s maintenance fund and some would likely be used to get separate electrical and water/sewer hookups to the gym and 2 classrooms the school district is keeping.
In other business Rachel Wemhoff Hernandez was approved for hire as the new first grade teacher. She is a daughter of Roger and Annette Wemhoff.
Samantha Mizer was approved for hire as the new Elementary School janitor and Damian Forsmann was approved for hire as summer help. 
The board also accepted the resignation of Jr./Sr. High School paraprofessional Todd Holcomb.
The board voted to offer teacher contracts pending approval of the override levy.
Bus depreciation funds of $28,080 were transferred to the bus fund.
In the administrative reports Rene’ Forsmann estimated the funding they should be getting from the reinstatement of the Secure Rural Schools funding. The bill would pay retroactive for the past two years which she figured would come to just over $600,000.
She also reported the parent-teacher conferences at the Elementary School were very well attended.
She and board member Tara Rowland will be discussing with Erin Shears the future of the Center for Discovery now that the grant monies have run out.
She listed the Elementary School teaching assignments.
As superintendent she reported the Idaho Transportation Department is donating 25 Optiplex 9010 computers. They will upgrade them from 4 to 8 GB of RAM and use them to replace older teacher machines.
Forsmann also listed the summer facility projects. 
They will be turning the Elementary Computer lab into an extra elementary classroom.
They will have Jack Duman paint 10 of the inside doors.
They will add a computer table to the library to house 15 of the computers being moved out of the computer lab.
Through e-rate funding they will upgrade the servers and wiring closet.
They will be adding heating systems to some of the high school classrooms.
They will be doing some work in the elementary bad room due to leaks in the ceiling.
Also add electric and water/sewer to the Auxiliary Gym and 2 classrooms.
Jon Rehder reported all juniors completed the SAT on April 11.
ISAT testing started April 16 and continues until early May.
John and Denise Mager will no longer be running the concession stands and postgame cleanup. Rehder said he will be looking into what they can do.
Higher Ed Day went well with representatives from 5 Idaho colleges in attendance.
A lock down drill was held March 27. It was a good learning experience and ways were discussed to make the campus safer.
The high school knowledge bowl team took first place in league.
An open house retirement party for Renee Eckert and Patty Hinkelman is set for Friday, April 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to the public.
Mr. Martin and Mr. Hasselstrom took 6 students to Schweitzer Engineering on April 12 for a STEM event. Brody Hasselstrom, Zach Rambo, Evan Schwartz, Reed Chapman, Jesse Cronin and Kyle Schwartz each wrote an essay on why they would like to attend. The event went very well.
As a final item, Rehder reported some changes have been made to the bleacher project. They scaled back to a 66 foot pre-engineered structure and will do some landscaping and use the current bleachers on each end. Board chairman Gus Hoene reminded Rehder to make sure everything is approved by both an engineer and the district’s insurance carrier.
The meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
The next meeting of the board will be Monday, May 21 and go back to the 7 p.m. start time.
