District softball and baseball start next week
The District Softball Tournament starts next Monday, May 7 with play-in games while the District Baseball Tournaments starts Tuesday with play-in games.
At press time, both the Prairie softball and baseball teams had a chance at finishing in the top 2 in league and missing those play-in games.
A win over either Genesee or Potlatch for the softball team would clinch a bye into District. If they should happen to wind up in third they would host a play-in game against either Troy or Culdesac Monday, May 7 at 4:30 p.m.
The final 4 portion of the tournament will be held at Genesee on Tuesday, May 8 starting at 3 p.m. with the top 3 finishers there advancing to state at Caldwell on May 18-19.
The baseball team needs to beat C.V. to clinch second place. With a loss they would host a play-in game against the #6 team, which looks to be either Kendrick or Lewis County, on Tuesday, May 8.
Potlatch all but locked up the #1 seed by beating Genesee on Monday. Either Prairie or Genesee will be the #2 seed.
If Prairie beats C.V. they advance to district at Orofino on May 11-12. All four teams there are already qualified for state with the tournament being for seeding into the state bracket.
State will be at Orofino on May 18-19.
