names top scholars for class of 2018
The Prairie High School Class of 2018 has six valedictorians and one salutatorian. This year’s valedictorians are Dereck Arnzen, Leah Higgins, Anthony Karel, Calli Perrin, Jace Perrin and Molly Schwartz. They have all maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout their high school careers. Dereck is the son of Brendan & Mollie Arnzen. He plans to enroll in the Veterinary Technology Program at the College of Southern Idaho. Dereck has been involved in football, baseball, Cottonwood Gun Club and various class committees. Leah is the daughter of Brad and Cindy Higgins. She will attend Gonzaga University and major in Nursing-Nurse Anesthetist. Leah has been active in volleyball, basketball, softball, HOSA, BPA, Prairie League, PAVE (Prairie Active Volunteer Efforts), Catholic Youth Group and was the ASB President. Anthony is the son of Dan & Laurie Karel. Anthony plans on attending Lewis Clark State College for Business and then going on to Mount Angel or University of Mary in North Dakota majoring in Theology/Religion. He has been active in BPA, FFA, Knowledge Bowl, track, cross country, ASB and Catholic Youth Group. Calli is the daughter of Scott & Tina Perrin and plans on attending Brigham Young University-Idaho where she will major in Economics. Calli has in participated in BPA and cross country. Jace Perrin is the son of Scott & Tina Perrin and he will major in Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University. He has been active in BPA, Knowledge Bowl, football, wrestling and baseball. Molly is the daughter of Jared and Annmarie Schwartz. She plans on attending the University of Idaho where she will major in Elementary Education. Throughout her high school years Molly has been a class officer and participated in Prairie League, cross country, Idaho County Orchestra, HOSA, FFA, ASB, Catholic Youth Group and Catholic Leadership Team. Our Salutatorian for the Class of 2018 is Alexis Shears, she maintained a 3.981 GPA throughout high school. Alexis is the daughter of Kris & Erica Shears; she is planning to attend Boise State University and major in Elementary Education. Alex was a member of Prairie League and HOSA and played volleyball and basketball. Congratulations to these seven very deserving students.
