graduates from West Point
Cadet Drew Cochran, son of Terry and Jennifer Cochran of Cottonwood, ID, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on Saturday, May 26. Drew graduated from Prairie High School, Cottonwood, ID in 2014. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Infantry branch and will report to Ft. Campbell, KY for his first assignment. The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the Nation as an officer in the United States Army. After 4 years of Ivy League College mixed with 4 summers of intense military training, Drew has received his Bachelor of Science in Defense and Strategic Studies. He received the Superintendent’s Award of Achievement for being in the top 15% of his class in Academic, Military and Physical Excellence. He also received the award for highest Physical GPA in the DSS program. While at the academy he was a member of the West Point Black Knights Parachute team, achieving over 650 parachute jumps during competition, training, and demonstrations involving landing in assorted NFL and MBA stadiums as well as horse racetracks, air shows, and other venues. After receiving his diploma, he was commissioned as a 2LT by Major Pete Guerdan. MAJ Guerdan was his Officer Representative/Officer In Charge for the USMA Parachute Team as well as a personal mentor throughout his time at the academy. He then received his first salute from his father, SFC (retired) Terry Cochran.
