Nice students attend HOSA Nationals
Nine students from the Prairie High School HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) Chapter attended the HOSA National conference in Dallas Texas In June.
Brooklyn Riener competed in Job Seeking Skills, Leah Higgins competed in Medical Photography and Health Care Issues, Alexis Hiler and Kristyna Krogh competed in Health Career Display and Health Care Issues and Jordyn Higgins, Cole Schlader, Hayden Uhlenkott, Kendra Duclos and Hope McIntire also competed in Health Care Issues.  Each one of these students had to qualify at the state level in order to complete at the National level.
“I was very proud of each of these students; just making it to Nationals is a great accomplishment and Alexis Hiler and Kristyna Krogh also made it to the second round in Health Career Display at Nationals; which is huge,” commented HOSA advisor, Cheri Holthaus.  “There were over ten thousand students from all over the United State at this National conference; it was so nice for these nine students to meet students from all the other states.”
In additional to attending the conference the students had some spare time so they were able to go to Six Flags, a Texas Ranger Game and tour the Dallas Cowboy Stadium.
“We would like to extend a special thanks to St. Mary’s Hospital, Freedom Northwest Credit Union and the Cottonwood Credit Union for their generous donations which helped to fund this trip,” said Holthaus.  “We would also like to thank all those who purchased cinnamon rolls which likewise helped fund this trip,” said Cheri. “In addition I would like to acknowledge the Idaho Stem Action Center for the $2500 travel grant they awarded our HOSA group which was also very much appreciated.”
