Blood drive surpasses goal
“Our goal was set for 71 pints at our blood drive that was held on August 28, 2018” commented Brenda Kaschmitter, Blood Drive Co-Chair, but thanks to our loyal donors and the fact that we had very few deferrals, we met and surpassed that goal by 20 units!
Once again a big thank you to all the wonderful volunteers; without them this blood drive would not be possible; Judy Forsmann, Theresa Uptmor, Joyce Lorentz, Doris Sonnen, Bobbie Schmidt, Linda Arnzen, Sylvia Uhling and Carol Lauer.  The volunteer duties include helping set up, escorting donors, checking in donors and offering maple bars and juice. “We have some of the best volunteers around” said co-chair Donna Quick “including Anna Kaschmitter who graciously put our posters up around town”.
Brenda and Donna would also like to extend a really big thank you to the employees of St. Mary’s Hospital for their continual support of the blood drive by coming in and donating.  And thanks to St. Mary’s Hospital for supplying the maple bars for our donors, and for loaning us the maintenance crew for setting up and taking down the tables and chairs.
Those giving blood for the first time were Cheyenne Mauer, Annie Vanator, Zach Frei, Stephanie Peery and Dan Lustig; we hope that donating blood will become a lifelong habit for all of them.  Along with the first time donors Gladys Sonnen received her 9 gallon pin (see photo below).
“We hope to see all our past donors as well as some new donors at our next blood drive which will be on November 27, 2018,” said Kaschmitter.  “If you would like to make an appointment please feel free call me at 962-3251.”
