How to cook a turkey
First-grade students in Mrs. Cindy Schumacher's class recently made a class book on how they are planning to spend Thanksgiving Day.
From getting the turkey to the end of the Thanksgiving Day, they wanted to share their stories with you.
We hope you enjoy them.
HOW TO COOK A TURKEY (FIRST GRADE RECIPES)
“We don’t have turkey for Thanksgiving.  We have hamburgers instead of turkey.  My dad cooks the hamburgers on his grill outside.  His grill is at 6 degrees and he cooks them for 5 minutes.  We have bread, mayonnaise, green beans, macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes with our hamburgers.  Our favorite dessert is ice cream and popsicles.  After dinner my family likes to play board games.  My favorite is Top That.”

“We go to our grandma and grandpa’s house for Thanksgiving.  My grandma, Morna and mom cook the turkey.  Sometimes they put salt and pepper on it to make it taste good.  They use the oven to cook it.  They turn the oven on 50 degrees and cook it for 3 hours.  We have salad and something with oranges and liquid in it.  I don’t remember what it is called but it is very good.  My brother hogs it down.  We also have eggs that are boiled, toast with the eggs and chips and sauce.  We have cinnamon pie for dessert.  After dinner we play games a lot. We play teachers upstairs because grandma has lots of school stuff and we play on the trampoline.  We can only play two things at a time.”
