Summit Academy helps exchange student rediscover her faith

Summit Academy changes hearts around the world! Exchange students attending Summit Academy are immersed in or Catholic culture. Some experience Jesus for the first time in their lives. For other students, their faith is strengthened and renewed, and they return to their home countries full of the Holy Spirit.
Jiyun Im recently returned to South Korea after a year spent attending Summit Academy. Her family converted to Catholicism in 2008 and Jiyun, 7 at the time, noticed an increased peace in her family. Unfortunately the family stopped attending Mass and turned away from God.
:For three years, Ilost my faith, and my life was a mess,” Jiyun said. “I was growing up as a teenager without God.” However, Jiyun knows now the Lord was working in her life even during that time.
She came to the United States to attend Summit Academy and stayed with her host family, Jim and Lisa Hickel.
“Through my religious studies at school and living in a home with a strong Catholic faith, I now find attending Mass a privilege,” Jiyun said.
Jiyun received the sacrament of Confirmation and returned to South Korea as a beacon of light for her family and culture.
“I am genuinely and profoundly Catholic today,” she said. “No matter what, God is always here for me. I will continue this journey of faith.”
