The Prairie Pirates split their final two games of the season, winning 65-31 over C.V. on Senior Night Tuesday, Feb. 5 before losing their final regular season game, 57-61 at Moscow on Thursday, Feb. 7. They are the #2 seed at District and will play their first District game Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the LCSC Activity Center against the Troy-Potlatch winner from Wednesday eveing. 
The 3 seniors that usually start, Spencer Schumacher, Devin Ross and Dylan Schumacher, all scored in double figures while Tayler Ott scored the first points of the game and wound up with 4. Fellow senior Dylan Schumacher picked up the assist on the play. Dylan and Spencer Schumacher each scored 4 in the opening quarter as Prairie built a 13-6 lead. Ross has a pair of assists in the opening quarter but added 5 more in the second, many of those to fellow seniors Dylan and Spencer Schumacher who each scored 6 in the second quarter. Each had 10 points by halftime. Prairie opened the second quarter with a 9-0 run and outscored C.V. 19-5 to open up a 32-11 halftime lead. In the third quarter Ross turned to scoring after just 1 first half point as he hit 5 straight shots, including a pair of 3 pointers for 12 third quarter points. Prairie had closed the half with 4 straight points and scored the first 9 of the third quarter for a 13-0 run. Prairie built a 50-16 lead in the quarter but C.V. scored the final 5 of the quarter to ward off the running clock mercy rule, at least for awhile. C.V. held off the running clock until Ross and Spencer Schumacher hit back-to-back 3-pointers that made it 60-28 with 3:38 to play. Spencer Schumacher and Ross each had a double-double in the game but did it differently. Spencer scored a game high 17 points with 14 rebounds while Ross scored 16 with 10 assists. Dylan Schumacher scored 10 and added 3 assists while Ott scored 4 with 4 assists. Underclassmen scoring for the Pirates were Derik Shears with 8, Damian Forsmann with 5, Cole Schlader with 3 and Sam Mager with 2. Prairie outrebounded the Rams 40-23, led by Spencer Schumacher’s 14. Mager added 9 rebounds. Mager and Shears had 2 steals each. Prairie was 29 for 57 from the field, 51%, and 1 for 4 at the line, 25%. C.V. was 8 for 38 from the field, 21%, and 14 for 22 at the line, 64%. The JV team also won their final home game, 53-29, avenging a loss in overtime at Kooskia. Brody Hasselstrom scored 6 and Kyle Schwartz and Zach Rambo 2 each as Prairie took a 10-1 lead in the first quarter. C.V. answered with 4 straight to make it 10-5 by the end of the quarter then cut the lead to 10-9 by scoring the first 4 of the second quarter. A 3-pointer by Schwartz broke C.V.’s 0-8 run and started an 8-0 run by Prairie as Dean Johnson scored inside and Lane Schumacher hit a 3 for an 18-9 lead. C.V. scored to make it 18-11 at the half. In the third quarter C.V. was hanging close at 24-19 when Johnson scored to kick off a 14-0 run by the Pirates. Hasselstrom and Rambo each followed with a 3-pointer. A 2 point basket each by Rambo and Hasselstrom and another basket by Johnson made it 38-19 with 1:34 left in the third. Schumacher added another 3 plus a lay-up to put Prairie up 43-23. C.V. scored in the final seconds to make it 43-25 after 3 quarters. Prairie outscored the Rams 10-4 in the final quarter to win by 24. Hasselstrom wound up with 17 points to lead the scoring while Johnson scored 10. Rambo scored 9, Schumacher 8, Schwartz 7 and Hayden Uhlenkott 2. Prairie had a 35-27 edge on the boards with Hasselstrom collecting 6 rebounds while Uhlenkott and Johnson had 5 each. Rambo had 4 steals and Schwartz had 5 assists. Prairie was 23 for 51 from the field, 45%, and 2 for 9 at the line, 22%. C.V. was 14 for 40 from the field, 35%, and 1 for 6 at the line, 17%. Moscow rallied back in the second though to take a 33-35 halftime lead. Prairie had a strong third quarter as they took the lead back and led 48-44 heading into the foiurth. Moscow rallied in the fourth, outscoring the Pirates 9-17 to pull out the win. In that fourth quarter Prairie still had their chances to win as they missed 5 straight free throws after Moscow had taken a 4-point lead. Prairie managed to pull within 1 on a Spencer Schumacher 3-pointer but the Bears then sank their free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win. Spencer Schumacher wound up as the leading scorer with 18 points with Ross right behind with 17. Dylan Schumacher scored 13 with Schlader adding 5, and Mager 4. Prairie ends their regular season with a 16-5 record, 10-2 in league play. They open District play on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the LCSC Activity Center, likely against #3 seeded Potlatch.
