Snowstorm leads to school closures
A winter storm that hit the area Sunday evening has led to school closures in Cottonwood this week.
Snow fell most of Sunday night and well into the day on Monday leading to both Prairie and Summit schools closing on Monday.
On Monday night and early Tuesday morning, winds picked up in the area leading to drifting snow that led to both school systems being closed again on Tuesday.
The storm has also affected the boys District Basketball Tournament as Monday’s play-in game at Troy with Kamiah was postponed to Tuesday evening.
That moved Tuesday’s games back a day as the play-in game winner was to travel to Potlatch.
That also necessitated the Wednesday game schedule being moved back a day as well meaning Prairie won’t open District play until Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at LCSC.
Prairie and Summit were both open for school on Wednesday.
