Ski Skoop
Cottonwood Butte Ski Area had fantastic ski conditions this weekend with 44 inches of snow at the base and 50 inches of snow at the summit! The great snow conditions brought over 250 skiers and snowboarders up to the Butte this weekend.
The weekend started on Friday with our first Friday night skiing of the season. Fifty skiers and snowboarders came up to enjoy the Friday night lights on the hill. On Saturday we extended our hours from 10am to 8pm and had 133 skiers and snowboarders throughout the day. During this time we also had an Emergency Preparedness Drill put on by St. Mary's Hospital and WSU medical students.  As part of the Emergency Preparedness Drill a scene was set up on the hill for avalanche training. Unfortunately, the Life Flight helicopter was unable to come because it was out on a real emergency. On Sunday we were going to have the Frost Bite Club but it was so cold we had no participants. Even with the cold weather we still had 86 skiers and snowboarders.
Our season is ending this coming weekend March 9th and March 10th.  We will be open 10am to 4pm both days.  If you have not had a chance to escape to the Cottonwood Butte Ski Area, come join us this weekend!
