Student reactions to ICYC
Our Tri Parish Youth Ministry brought 51 people to the Idaho Catholic Youth Convention.  The theme of the conference was “Chosen”.  Instead of writing an article about the weekend I would like to share individual comments from the youth and adults about their experience during this faith filled weekend.
Jade- I enjoyed Paul Kim’s speech because a lot of the things he talked about I could relate too.
Evan- I like Sarah Swafford because she explained what a virtuous man is and about what girls think.
Erin- I enjoyed Sarah’s talk because the problems in the world are real and need to be addressed, but she is the only one I have met that is actually willing to talk about it!
Mattie- This weekend I learned a lot about myself and my relationship with God. Being a part of the God Squad I know feel more confident in my faith.  The speakers were amazing! There were so many things said that impacted me that there is no way I could list them all!
Trinity- I liked Sarah, Paul, and Ennie because everything they said was true!
Madison- During ICYC I learned no matter what you do in life, God will always love you! IF other people don’t believe in God, then you have to show them God though yourself!
Tommie- I learned there’s a lot of things you have to do to get closer to God and to be a better person
Lane-I like the Q/A with Sarah and Ennie. They explained all the questions very well.
Olivia- When Paul J. Kim talked about how we are on one mountain and Jesus is on the other.  Then when we walk to Jesus’ mountain, in the valley there was temptations and we can get lost trying to make our way to Jesus.  He finds us!
Halle- I think ICYC was really good! I was expecting God less from God Squad that I actually got! I loved being able to help and see others grow and become more confident through the conference!
Carson- I learned from Ennie that knowing God isn’t enough, you have to work on it!
Josie- Paul was funny and touched our hearts and kept us interested!
Kyleigh- I like Sarah Swafford because she could relate to teens and knows the modern ways / what’s going on in today’s world.  It was a good experience and I got to re-meet and gain a greater relationship with God!
Wes- I liked Paul speech! He was funny and said you can’t just go to Church you have to be the Church!
Reid- I enjoyed Paul’s speech. He understood what it is like to not be a perfect person in the Catholic Church!
Kace-I loved Sarah Swafford. She told us that no matter what society tells you , you make your own decisions and if you listen to God and respect and treat your peers right then we can run to God! She was awesome!
Eve- I learned good relationships are chaste
Matthew- I took away new learnings of chastity and abstinence and its importance.
Ali -I learned that love is lot a condition or a feeling. It is when you want to make someone else happy or push them up in life. You also don’t need a relationship until late!
Logan-I like the rapper because he was a funny and relatable person.  I also like Sarah Swafford because she helped us talk about God and I liked the whole thing because now I know how to talk to God!
Cole- I learned a lot!
Sierra- I liked Sarah Swafford because she was the most realistic, understanding, and relatable speaker.
John-I learned a deep understanding of my faith from Sarah
Shae- I loved all of it! I really liked the praise and worship.  I loved praising God and asking for help through song.  It made me so happy to see so many people coming together for God. You feel the Holy Spirit!
Conrad- I liked the Paul guy because he got to the point and was relatable!
Hope- Sarah was really inspirational and related to us in a way no has yet!
Katteri- I learned that love is not a feeling!
Tyler- I learned how to love God again and gain his trust!
Hayden- My favorite part of ICYC was seeing how happy Jesus made everyone look and feel. I love every single talk/monologue that I was able to participate in and listen too.  The music was amazing even if it did make made everyone emotional.  Everything about it!  I love it and I would do anything to be a part of God Squad 2020.
Non signed comments:
I learned how to dig deeper and explore on a deeper fashion. I have seen the opened door with me on the other side!
I loved when I had to imagine me on top of the mountain.  It was so real and everything was so true! You could put your personal life into it!
Quo Vadis- Where are you going?
Knowing you strive to grow closer to God and no one is perfectI
I liked the speakers especially Paul Kim because he spoke and played music!
During Adoration Jesus told me he was proud of me!
Going to Confession!
Adults:
Dan- Our Youth are not our future, they are our now.  Why would you leave Jesus because of Judas?
Dale- Our Youth are precious! Their response to this weekend was amazing and inspiring!
Kevin- The speakers, music, saint monologue’s, skits, Reconciliation, Holy Communion, Adoration are all different ways to imitate generations of Saints.
Maureen- Everything about the conference was great, especially the speakers, all three!
Debbie- God is doing a big thing in the world and wants you to be a part of it!  Oh yeah!!
Our Youth are not our Future.. They are our now
