Vince and Anna Duman family reunion held
Sunday morning dawned beautifully, full of sunshine. Cars started coming to Keuterville Hall, kids got out, food was brought in and before we knew it, the hall was full, the lawn around the hall was full and we had gathered together, about 250 of Vince and Anna Duman’s descendants, for the second Idaho Duman Reunion on Sunday, July 7.
How it all started:  Vince and Anna Duman loaded a train car with their household belongings and another railcar with their cattle in Akron, Colorado, and headed to Camas Prairie, namely Cottonwood, their destination. This was in 1918 when they left with their daughter Mary.  In November of that year their second child was born, Alfred, followed by Regina, Dominic, Agnes, Harold, Greg, Frances, Elizabeth, Catherine, John, Vinny (Vinny, Jr.) and Patricia. They lived where the present Rehder Farm is, earning a living by farming and logging. On December 27, 1945, Vince and Anna and the younger children moved to Portland, Oregon, then the following year moved to Mt. Angel where they resided until their deaths.
The Idaho descendants welcomed the Oregon and Washington and Montana descendants. Many had to get reacquainted with each other.
An interesting note:  Each of Vince and Anna’s children who had children had a child or more at the reunion. Another interesting note: The youngest child was one month. The oldest person – well, no one would admit to that???
At the Reunion were:
Marianne Lambert is Mary LaChapelle’s daughter.
Bonnie, Shirley, Jeanne, Donna, Verla, Cleo, Mary, Doris, Connie and Michelle’s are Alfred and Leona Duman’s.
Regina had no children.
Rita Gallagher and Randy Duman are Dominic and Pat Duman’s.
Ron Terhaar is Agnes and John Terhaar’s son.
Mick, Dave, Barb, Lynn, Tim and Jan are Harold and Marie Duman’s.
Greg had no children.
Kathy, Sharon, Gary, Jo Ann and Carol are Fran and Bill Faulhaber’s.
Ed Kuther is Bettie and Gene Kuther’s son.
Dan Brockamp is Casey and Richie Brockamp’s son.
Tom, Denis, Jack and Stacie are John and Marge Duman’s.
Jennifer Duman is the granddaughter of Vinny (Vinny Duman, Jr.).
Russell Seubert, Jayne Ratzburg and Patrice Larson are Pat and Dick Seubert’s.
No Duman gathering is complete until the piano has been played. The unicorn piñata swung from the ceiling until that mighty blow scattered candy, Slinkys, stamps and more all over the floor.  Outdoor games were played and everyone enjoyed the afternoon until it was time to say good bye to our Out-of-State relatives.
After all evidence was gone of a gathering of families, some went across the lawn to the historic Holy Cross Catholic Church for the Sunday evening 7 pm Mass, also being offered for all the Duman families. It was a perfect way to thank JESUS for all the blessings HE has bestowed on all of us over all these years and especially this day for our heritage.
