Photos from the Greencreek 4th of July celebration


The barrel train and the kiddie car merry-go-round have long been popular with youngsters at Greencreek’s 4th of July Celebration. The merry-go-round has been at Greencreek long enough for youngsters to enjoy the same ride their grandparents once rode.

The smaller merry-go-round was added a few years back. Russell Sonnen, at right, was the operator for both merry-go-rounds.

They had a new, bigger bouncy house this year at Greencreek. The older one was sold during the auction.

Something new this year at Greencreek were the Sumo Suits. They were worth quite a few laughs for onlookers and the youngsters seemed to enjoy them. Except when they fell down as they needed help to get back up.

There was a huge group of racers in the first race during Street Sports.

The man in the black shirt and beard near the center of the photo gave himself a handicap as he carried his young son in the adult race.

These youngsters didn’t get very far off the starting line before crashing in the 3-legged race.

A different variation on the 3-legged race. Erin and David Wassmuth and their cousin made it a 3-person race.

These young ladies crashed right at the finished but still managed to take first in their age group in the wheelbarrow race.

New to Street Sports this year were piggy-back races.

A good catch in the egg toss kept this youngsters team alive for another round.

This young lady’s egg bounced in but stayed intact for at least one more toss.

This catch however wasn’t as good as her partner didn't aim very well and she had to run to catch the egg and it broke on contact.

Eric Nuxoll is flanked by his sons, trying to keep the watermelon eating title in the family but Austin Sonnen, lower right corner, pulled out the win.

Bingo was played all day at Greencreek inside the Hall.

Items for the annual auction are checked out by come of those attending.

There was a good crowd under the tree and awnings for the auction. Weather was great for the day as it was sunny but not that hot.
