Lots of winners at Summer Fest
There were lots of winners at the Cottonwood Summer Fest held this past weekend.
Craig Hood won the 50/50 button drawing. He won $248 and donated $100 of that back to Summer Fest.
Ted Kopczynski won the adult Hay Bale Throw with Clark Tacke 2nd. Dean Johnson was the youth winner.
Ty Goeckner was the youth winner in the watermelon eating contest while David Villalobos was the adult winner.
Joel Wimer won the lawn mower race.
In the Barbecue contest Paul and Sabrina Johnson were the people’s choice winners. The Hankersons were the judges choice winners.
Parade float winners were: Camas Prairie Insurance, 1st; Rodonnas, 2nd and Cottonwood Credit Union, 3rd.
Tara Ross won Sunday’s ATV Fun Run.
“Quit Yer Pitchin’” was the winning softball team.
In the Egg Toss we don’t have the names of the 1st place pair, an apparent father-son combo. Taking 2nd were Lori Mader and Mike Wassmuth with Cara Uhlenkott and Jerry Forsmann taking third.
There were lots of winners at the dog show but we weren’t provided with who they were.
All in all it appears to have been a great event that was well attended.

The Egg Toss winners are shown. At left are a father-son duo that took first. Unfortunately we don’t have their names. In the middle are second place winners Lori Mader and Mike Wassmuth. At right are Jerry Forsmann and Cara Uhlenkott, who took third.

As you can tell by the young man's expression, Lori Mader did not make a clean catch of her egg as she and her partner Mike Wassmuth had to settle for second place in the event.


The plane can be seen coming in from the east along Main St. and then the resulting drop of ping pong balls.

Members of the VFW rode in the first entry in the parade.

Camas Prairie Insurance had the winning float in the parade.

Cottonwood Credit Union had the third place float in the parade.

One of the cooler rides temperature wise through the parade had to be this entry with a swimming pool on board.

The crowd along King Street for the start of the parade kept under the awnings of The Habit and Riener's Grocery to stay out of the sun.

The Lawn Mower Race wound up with just 2 entries with Joel Wimer winning  on his riding mower after falling behind early on.

Many of the vendors booths along the north side of Main Street.

The Cottonwood Lions Club burger trailer was kept busy.
