School Board meets
The school board voted to increase the gate fees for Prairie sporting events at their regular September meeting Monday, Sept. 16.
Gate fees were $5 for adults, $3 for youth, $2 for senior citizens and $15 for a family pass. Principal Jon Rehder proposed to add $1 to each of those. He said they hadn’t gone up since 2005 while costs for referees have gone up considerably since then.
In the motion to approve, board member Gus Hoene also added that the age cutoff for senior citizens would be 60 as there was some question about that.
Jr. High Assistant Track Coach Jenny Arnzen submitted her resignation and it was approved. She will continue as the assistant cross country coach.
An alternative authorization for Julie M. Schumacher was approved as she continues to take classes toward getting her math endorsement.
In the facilities report, superintendent Rene’ Forsmann said all the summer projects have been finished. There are still some kinks being worked out with the controls for the new heating systems  in the high school classrooms.
In her elementary principal’s report Forsmann said they had Ann Frazier and Jessica Myers from the hospital in for a bike safety program. All K-6 students attended.
In her superintendent’s report she noted Tara Brown’s presentation to the school and community went over very well.
They continue conversations with Idaho Distance Learning and LCSC regarding transition of the CNA program. The Nez Perce Tribe donated $6,000 for skills and clinical instructors for Regions I and II.
Jake Forsmann is looking at federal surplus for a new maintenance pickup as the current one has been in the shop more and more and needs replaced. They are looking at $7,000 to $9,000 for a vehicle.
Jon Rehder provided a schedule of Homecoming Week activities to the board.
They are limiting senior project presentations to just 2 days this year, December 18 and April 8.  Last year it took the advisers away from too much class time.
The Career Fair is at the Fairgrounds Sept. 19. Juniors and seniors will attend from about 11:15 to 2.
The 10th grade will tour the LCSC campus on Sept. 25.
FAFSA night is Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in the school library.
The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m.
