Booster Bulletin
Even as I get calls and texts from around the nation from friends and acquaintances telling me of the loss of a loved one or a business associate or just someone in their community from the Corona Virus.   I can’t help but also reflect on our community here at home.
We have a great community and great schools.   We have supportive community members who love this area and the people in it.   And we have great kids who represent us so well in all that they do.
Speaking of those young adults, my heart goes out to you as life has changed in the most significant way for you.   No school in the sense that you are used to.   Friends that you are asked and encouraged not to see for fear of passing along an illness that is killing thousands around the world.   And what will most likely be the end of a spring athletic season.   I know how hard especially you seniors have worked to have an opportunity your senior year.   I was looking forward to watching as you went after your dreams of playing or even qualifying or winning a State Championship or breaking records that were within your reach.   It doesn’t seem fair, but life is not fair.   I’m proud of you for all your efforts for Prairie Schools and how you have been role models for future generations.
To the 42 young tracksters who signed up for Junior High Track.   Don’t let this loss of a season deter you from trying out this amazing sport.   As your coach I was looking forward to helping each of you be just a little better runner, jumper or thrower.   I saw so much potential and young talent there, I was so excited to get started building you all up for the future.   There is a future and there will be opportunities.    Join me this fall in High School or Junior High Cross Country as we regroup, refocus and reestablish our Prairie Pirate winning ways and great educational systems.
Some people might say I’m addressing something that doesn’t matter right now.  I say conquer today by being vigilant about keeping people healthy all around us and protecting those who we love who are more susceptible to this evil sickness.   But know that when we come back to some sort of new normal, we will live life with a new passion and work towards a new future.   A Prairie future that may mean more than it ever has.  One where we run for those who didn’t get to, swing the bat for someone who just wanted one more opportunity but didn’t get it.   We will all have an opportunity to redefine what is important and how we treat each other and how we value the activities we sometimes take for granted. I’m looking forward to a great future and taking each day’s blessings with a little more appreciation. AS  ALWAYS,   GO PIRATES!!!!
