Pirates win 4 of 5
The Prairie Baseball team won 4 of 5 games this past week. On Tuesday, April 20, they beat Lapwai 29-1 at Cottonwood. On Thursday, April 22 they traveled to Potlatch and swept the Loggers 20-3 and 11-3. On Monday, April 26 they traveled to Kendrick and split a doubleheader11-10 and 7-12.
Vs. Lapwai
The Pirates had 2 innings where they pushed across double digit run totals in the game against Lapwai with the game called as a Pirate victory after just 3 innings.
Dean Johnson hit a 2-run homer in the first to help the Pirates score 12 runs in that inning.
After just 1 run in the second, the Pirates scored 16 in the third inning and Lapwai conceded at that point.
Prairie had 18 hits while Lapwai was held to just 1 hit and a single run in the third inning.

At Potlatch
The Pirates won a pair of games shortened by 90 minute time limit to get in a doubleheader at Potlatch that was rescheduled from Saturday, April 24 to Thursday, April 22 to avoid predicted wet weather.
Prairie won the first game 20-3 in just 3 innings and then won the second game 11-3 in 6 innings.
Johnson pitched the first game for the Pirates and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits while the Pirates pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of 6 Potlatch errors.
Prairie scored 4 runs in the first inning, 10 in the second and 6 in the third.
Both Johnson and Dalton Ross homered in the game.
Johnson had a homer and 2 singles. Chase Kaschmitter had a triple and 2 singles. Reece Shears had a double and a single. Ross had a homer. Colton McElroy, Connor Schwartz, Travis Alfrey and Cody Kaschmitter each had a single.
Alfrey pitched all 6 innings of the second game and gave up 6 hits and 3 runs.
Prairie meanwhile had 11 hits.
Prairie took the lead with a run in the bottom of the second. They added 3 more in the third.
Potlatch cut the lead to 4-2 in the top of the third but Prairie answered with 5 runs in the bottom of that inning.
Potlatch added 1 in the sixth while Prairie scored 2 in the bottom of the inning after which the time limit was reached.
Chase Kaschmitter and Alfrey each had a double and 2 singles. Johnson had a double and Ross, Colton McElroy, Lane Remacle and Cody Kaschmitter each had a single.

At Kendrick
The doubleheader at Kendrick was scheduled to be played at Cottonwood but moved to Kendrick due to wet field conditions at Cottonwood.
In the opener Prairie built an 11-4 lead through 5 innings as the home team.
The Pirates scored 4 in the first but Kendrick tied it with 4 in the third. Prairie took back the lead with 2 in the fourth and added 5 more in the fifth.
Kendrick then got to Prairie starter Chase Kaschmitter and scored 4 more in the sixth with Alfrey coming on in relief.
Kendrick added 2 more in the seventh before Alfrey got the final out to preserve the win.
Prairie had 9 hits in the game as Ross, Chase Kaschmitter and Colton McElroy each had 2 singles. Johnson had a double and Shears and Remacle each had a single.
Johnson started on the mound for the Pirates in the second game and Kendrick scored 4 runs in the first. Prairie came back with 5 in the top of the second to tie the game.
Kendrick tied it in the bottom of the second then took the lead for good with 5 runs in the third. Connor Schwartz took over on the mound in the fourth and gave up 2 more runs.
Prairie scored 2 in the top of the fifth then the game was halted due to darkness with Kendrick declared the winner.
Prairie had 11 hits in the game with Brody Hasselstrom and Remacle each collecting a double and single. Alfrey had 2 singles. Johnson and McElroy each had a double. Shears, Schwartz and Chase Kaschmitter each had a single.
Prairie is now 8-3 on the season and 8-2 in league play.
