the parades and everything in between!” said Border Days Queen Camden
Barger.Idaho County Free Press Barger, 17, will be a senior at Grangeville High School this fall. She is the daughter of Kevin and Michelle Barger, and the granddaughter of Jim and Judy Barger and Jim and Deb DeKaye, all of Grangeville. She has two siblings, brother, Caleb Barger, 19, and sister, Caryss Barger, 13. “I have had a great time this year, spending time with Macy and her family, and getting to see all the little girls smile at us as we ride by in the parades,” she said. Barger’s trusty equine friend is her14-year-old quarter horse, Gracie. Barger has been involved in Triple Bar Drill Team as a leader (and past queen), HOSA, ASB vice-president, varsity basketball, softball and volleyball, FFA, National Honor Society and STEM. She is also a member of youth group at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Following high school graduation, Barger plans to attend college and pursue a degree in the medical field. Her involvement in advanced science courses and awards and honors in the State of Idaho Science and Engineering Fair have been helping prepare her for her future: She and partner, Bailey Vanderwall, recently won “best in fair” at the state competition and went on to nationals. 
Smith is Border Days Princess

“We have been so thankful for the generosity from so many community members,” said Macy Smith.Idaho County Free Press Smith has spent the past year serving as the Border Days princess. Smith, 17, just completed her junior year at Grangeville High School. There, she has been active in volleyball, basketball and softball, as well as FFA, National Honor Society, Youth Legislature and Associated Student Body government. The daughter of Nate and Whitney Smith of Grangeville, Smith also has one brother, Gage Smith, 12. Her grandparents are Phil and Marilyn Wimer and Mike and Donna Smith, all of Grangeville. Smith is a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Youth Group and works summers as a lifeguard at Grangeville City Pool. “The community support Camden and I have received has been awesome!” Smith emphasized. When she graduates, Smith plans to attend college in the Pacific Northwest. “I hope to play college softball If the opportunity arises,” she said. Smith has ridden her horse, Smoqnito, a 14-year-old quarter horse, for her Border Days activities.  Queen Camden Barger and Princess Macy Smith together.
