| Volunteers keep the Library going The Prairie Community Library was founded in 1985 and has been enhancing our community for the last 37 years. Did you know it is a non-profit organization that relies completely on volunteers and donations? The past two years have been isolating for so many as we have navigated the difficulties of the recent pandemic. If it has been a while since you visited the library, we would love to see you again! Come on in and check out our new selection of health books and children’s books. If you don’t see what you are looking for, just let us know. We are eager for suggestions of what you would like to have available at the library. You can use our conference area if your club or group is looking for a place to meet, or if you need a quiet place to sit and use the Wi-Fi. We would also like to reach out to those looking to re-connect with their community and get involved in a meaningful way. Opportunities to volunteer at the library are varied and can include all ages. Last year we had an 11 year old who came after school to help re-shelf books and do various tasks to help the librarians. Francis with the Old Time Fiddlers has done music presentations for the kids. You could help with the summer reading program, plan a library float for the parade, volunteer time as a librarian, get involved finding grants or help with community outreach and advertising for the library. Whatever talents or interests you have to offer, the library would love to have you on our team! Helping at the library would make a great senior project for high school students or service opportunity for 4H members; or perhaps you are retired and looking for something new to engage in. We are grateful for the impact of all those who have and who are currently supporting the library. We also look forward to meeting many new friends of the library.
