| BLM's Pink House site to offer scan and pay option
Paying for your favorite campsite at the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) popular Pink House campground on the Clearwater River will soon be as simple as scanning a QR code. Beginning in April, campers can opt to pay overnight camping fees at the site through the free, easy-to-use www.Recreation.gov mobile app using the ‘scan and pay’ option. Selecting a camping site at Pink House will remain first-come, first-served; they will not be reservable in advance through Recreation.gov. To take advantage of using scan and pay in lieu of other traditional forms of payment for camping fees, visitors simply download the free mobile app, create an account and then scan the QR code at Pink House campground to complete the payment. A small service fee applies for payment through the recreation.gov app. For additional information on how to use the Recreation.gov scan and pay option, please visit: https://bit.ly/36TiEWC “We are looking forward to offering this alternative form of payment for camping to our visitors at the Pink House recreation site,” said Richard White, BLM Cottonwood Field Office Manager. “We will continue to offer fee envelopes for payment by check or cash but hope that visitors take advantage of this new, seamless way to pay camp fees.” Also beginning in April, reservations for the popular Pink House day use pavilions will be taken through Recreation.gov instead of contacting the Cottonwood Field Office directly. Both facilities have electricity, lighting, standing BBQ grills, accessible picnic tables, and views of the Clearwater River, making them an ideal location for a family get-together. Reservations through recreation.gov require a small service charge. Located 5 miles west of Orofino, Idaho, BLM’s Pink House Recreation Site includes a large, developed campground with an on-site Volunteer Camp Host. The site is nestled beside the Clearwater River at an elevation of 980 feet, surrounded by scenic views of semi-arid hills, and the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. Visitors enjoy camping, world class fishing, boating, tubing, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. The mobile app from www.Recreation.gov is available to the public for free download on iOS and Android devices.
