4 vying for Idaho County Fair Royalty

 
They are Gracelyn Missman of Cottonwood and Abbie Frei, Payton Brown and Makenna York, all of Grangeville.
They will be judged at the Royalty Luncheon which will be Thursday, August 4 at Grangeville. The crowning will take place Friday night at the Idaho County Fair.
Abbie Frei
Abbie Frei is the 16 year old daughter of Steve and Kristie Frei of Grangeville. She will be a junior at Grangeville High School.
Activities and organizations she participates in are volleyball, basketball, softball, student council, National Honors Society, BPA, FFA, youth legislature and the Varsity Blue Choir at school and is part of the Sts. Peter & Paul Youth Group.
Fair involvement includes Cloverbud 4-H for 2 years showing a goat and has been a member of the Fenn Livestock 4-H Club for 6 years showing market swine and in the FFA for 2 years, also showing market swine.
She makes money as a janitor/cleaner for Clearwater Chem-Dry Cleaning business and also babysits during the summer.
She enjoys singing, playing the ukulele, playing sports, reading and spending time with family.
After high school she plans to attend the University of Idaho and get her degree in Elementary Education.
3 life goals are to become a mom and raise here kids how her parents raised her; travel to and experience different countries and get her teaching degree and be the best teacher she can be.
She feels her strongest personal quality is being true to herself and sticking up for what she knows is right even if she is standing alone.
The most important things in her life are the relationships she has with her family.
Her parents have been married for 26 year. She is the youngest of 6 with older siblings Cody and Zach, age 25; Katrina, age 23; Kyle, age 20 and Caleb, age 18. She also has 4 loving grandparents: Gerry and Jan Frei and Richard and Dorothy Nuxoll and over 60 first cousins.
She has lived in Idaho County all her life.
Gracelyn Missman
Gracelyn Missman is the 17 year old daughter of Amy Missman of Cottonwood.
She is homeschooled.
When her family moved from Mississippi 10 years ago she got involved in a local church and got involved in AWANA. She also joined 4-H and the Kooskia Saddliers riding club. She was chosen queen of that organization in 2020 and 2021.
Past Fair involvement started when she turned 8 and got involved in 4-H showing goat, sheep, horse and several other types of projects at the Fair. She was also in M.O.D. squad. Also when she got bored she would pitch in and help out with anything that needed done at the Fair.
She works at Coyote’s One Stop in Cottonwood.
She has a lifelong passion for horse riding and training horses with natural horsemanship. She also really likes western fashion.
After high school she would like to move out and possibly start making a presence in the local horse industry with training and tuning up people’s horses.
Her 3 life goals are to start a profitable career starting colts; have a successful western clothing boutique, and own a working cattle and performance horse ranch.
She feels her strongest personal quality is her work ethic. She has worked very hard in her life with her 4-H career and her horsemanship. She is proud she knows how to work for what she wants whether it be financially or mentally.
The most important thing in her life is God. He has carried her through some really dark times. He has given her everything she has and she will never be able to thank Him enough.
She is the oldest of 3 children. Her younger siblings are 14 year old twins Logan and Lilly. Lilly rides horses and Logan prefers online gaming. She lives with her mother, Amy, who is her greatest inspiration and made her into the person she is today.
She has lived in Idaho County for the past 10 years.
Payton Brown
Payton Brown is the 16 year old daughter of Nichole Howe and Jacob Brown of Grangeville.
She will be a junior at Grangeville High School.
She is involved in FFA, student council, volleyball, cheerleading, softball, travel softball, competitive dance and club volleyball.
Past Fair involvement includes being a member of the Country Time 4-H Club in Asotin County for 4 years and after moving to Grangeville spending 2 years in the Grangeville FFA.
She works as a crew member for the Clearwater Youth Conservation Corps.
She enjoys hanging out with friends, swimming and camping.
After high school she plans to major in psychology with the goal of becoming a counselor She would like to attend either the University of Idaho or Washington State University.
3 life goals are to: Graduate college; raise a family and have a happy home life.
She feels her strongest personal quality is her empathy. Being empathetic has allowed her to form very strong and healthy relationships with others and has allowed her to be very approachable to others.
The most important thing in her life is her relationships with peoples she cares about. Having people in your life you can trust is what life is all about.
She has 6 siblings and grew up in a loving household that gave her the support she needed for anything she wanted to try.
She has lived in Idaho County for 3 years.
Makenna York
Makenna York is the 15 year old daughter of Heidi and Eric York of Grangeville.
She will be a sophomore at Grangeville High School.
She participates in basketball, volleyball, softball and a competitive travel club volleyball team and local club softball team. AT GHS she is involved in BPA, Concert Band and Pep Band, and student council. She was also selected to be part of the 2023 NBC International Volleyball tour team. She also participates in the high school girls youth group at Centennial E-Free Church and is a member of Crazy Critters 4-H Club.
She has participated in the Fair for 7 years in 4-H having taken dog projects for 3 years, baking and crocheting 1 year, pet rabbit for 3 years, market lamb for 2 years and Making the Most of Me for 1 years. She has also been part of the M.O.D. Squad for 1 year and is currently a 4-H Ambassador.
For employment she has done babysitting for multiple families over the years and also works as a youth softball umpire.
Hobbies include playing sports with her favorite being volleyball. She also enjoys horseback riding, working with her 4-H project animals, being with family and friends, camping, fishing, hunting, UTV riding and hiking.
Her plans for after high school aren’t set yet but she is looking into attending the University of Idaho and pursing Law School after completing her undergraduate degree.
Her 3 life goals include graduating high school as the valedictorian as her grades are very important and she strives for excellence in everything she does; to attend college on a scholarship and pursue a degree in a career she would come to love as she not only wants a great job but one she would enjoy doing; and to start a family and raise her children with a husband she loves.
She feels her strongest personal quality is her perseverance in everything she does. She works hard, stays committed and can create options to overcome challenges.
The most important thing in life is her family and her faith. Her family has greatly influenced the person she is today. They are her biggest supporters and push her to be her best.
Her family consists of her parents, herself and her little sister Brynnley. They are her biggest supporters and are at every sports game, awards ceremony and everything else she is involved in.
She has lived in Idaho County for 9 years.
