21 turn out for PHS football
There are 21 players turned out for the Prairie High School Football team. New head coach T.T. Cain takes over after Ryan Hasselstrom stepped down after last year’s season. Joining Cain as assistants are returnee Tanner Ross and new assistant Hayden Uhlenkott, both former Prairie players on state championship teams. They are led by seniors Shane Hanson, Colton McElroy, Quirt Goeckner and Ryan Wemhoff. Juniors are Trenton Lorentz, Noah Behler, Ben Elven and Ethan VonBargen. Sophomores are Jake Quintal, Eli Hinds, Dylan Uhlenkott, Blake Bunce, Lucas Bennet and Drake Cronan. Freshmen are Phil Schwartz, Levi Gehring, Chris Schumacher, Levi McElroy, Oliver Hinman and Tommy Rose. Rose is a St. John Bosco student. 8-Man Classic at For the fourth time in the past 5 years Prairie will be competing in the 8-Man Classic at Middleton High School on Saturday, August 27. The only time they didn’t play was in 2020 when they bowed out due to COVID concerns. This year’s match-up is the one that got cancelled in 2020 as Prairie will play Oakley at 5 p.m. MDT. Earlier in the day Notus will play Kendrick at 11 a.m. MDT and Glenns Ferry will play C.V. at 2 p.m. MDT. Lapwai was supposed to play Raft River but Lapwai decided to drop out which is why the Prairie-Oakley game is at 5 p.m. instead of 6:30 as originally scheduled.
