Pirates lose 3 games
The Prairie Pirates finished their regular season with 3 losses. On Tuesday, Feb. 7, they lost at Grangeville 37-47. On Friday, Feb. 10, they lost in overtime on Senior Night to Logos, 51-56. Finally on Monday, Feb. 13, they lost at Kendrick, 36-48.  They open District play on Wednesday, Feb. 15, as the #6 seed and will play at Potlatch at 6 p.m. . . .

Lady Pirates earn State berth
The Prairie Lady Pirates clinched a trip to state for the 13th straight year. In District Tournament action at Lewiston High School they got thumped by Lapwai 25-59 in the District Championship Game Wednesday, Feb. 8, but bounced back to beat Kamiah 53-42 in the second place game on Thursday, Feb. 9.
That earned them a trip to the State Tournament at Nampa’s Columbia High School. . . .

Patriot girls and boys each lose
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots had their season ended by Nezperce with a 25-40 loss in District Tournament play at Lapwai on Thursday, Feb. 9. On that same night the boys team lost to Grangeville 47-57 at Craigmont.
The boys had a senior night game scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10 against Meadows Valley at Craigmont but that game got cancelled as Meadows Valley was unable to get to Craigmont due to Highway 95 being closed. That game was rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 17 and then cancelled again. Senior Night celebration will take place at the school after District. . . .

Friday, Feb. 10 was senior night for the Prairie boys basketball team. In the top photo is Shane Hanson with his family including aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. The St. John Bosco Patriots open District play next Monday, Feb. 20, with a loser out game against Highland at Craigmont at 6 p.m. If they win the tournament continues at Lapwai High School. Cody Weckman, an 8th grade student at St. John Bosco Academy placed 2nd in the state at the Elks National Hoop Shoot challenge.  After winning at the local level, Cody's family earned a paid stay in Kellogg Idaho where the state contest took place.  Cody made 22 of 25 free throws to earn 2nd place. Brenda's Paint Parties was in Craigmont a weekend ago with a private  group and a Valentine's Special at the Camas Club & Prairie Shots Espresso Bar. A lot of fun was had by all!! It was red out the gym last Friday for the student body at the boys senior night game against Logos. Aubree Rehder and Taylor Riener lead the students in the "rollercoaster" cheer. Click on the photo for a larger view.
