Two qualify for State
Evelyn Gehring and Koyle Jones qualified for State at the District Cross Country Meet at Lewiston, Wednesday, Oct. 21.
State qualifiers Evelyn Gehring and Koyle Jones with their medals.Gehring finished 8th in the girls race in 22:22.0 to grab the final spot to the State meet. Jones finished 10th in the boys race in 18:22.0. The top 16 finishers in the boys race qualified for state. As a team the girls finished 2nd with 47 points, however the only other team was Logos and half of the teams qualify for state. Zita Schmidt finished 13th in 25:11.0. Gloria Terhaar was 14th in 25:22.0. Lillianne Lustig was 16th in 27:09.0. Ella McLeod was 18th in 27:58.0. For Lustig and McLeod it was the final race in their high school careers. The boys team placed 5th out of 6 teams. The top 3 qualified for State. Matthew Jones finished 2 spots shy of making it to state as he was 18th in 19:28.0. Kade Hansen was 31st in 20:59.0. Gabe DeCaria was 36th in 22:44.0. Phineas Fitch was 42nd in 24:42.0 and Aiden De Lorenze was 43rd in 25:22.0. For DeCaria it was the final race of his high school career. The State Meet is set for this Saturday, Oct. 31 at Portneuf Wellness Center in Pocatello. Gehring will run at 10:30 a.m. MDT while Jones will run at noon.
