Wrestlers compete at two events The Prairie wrestling team competed at a dual meet at C.V. on Wednesday, Dec. 3 and then at the Dick Griswold Memorial Tournament at Potlatch on Saturday, Dec. 6. At C.V. Duals Prairie competed at the
C.V. Duals but we don’t have a whole lot of information as they didn’t
post the results to the online wrestling website.Ashton Martin competed just once and lost to Noah Johnson of Nezperce. Carson Lockart lost to a Kamiah wrestler then lost to a Grangeville wrestler. Devon Poxleitner won by pin against a Kamiah wrestler then lost to a Grangeville wrestler. Zach Schumacher competed once and lost to a Grangeville wrestler. Mikayla Rowland competed twice and lost. She lost her opening match by pin to Jesse Rice of C.V. She then had a lead but wound up getting pinned by a Grangeville wrestler. Avery Schacher did not have any matches. Schacher took first place in the 170 lbs. bracket and Mikayla Rowland
took second in the 145 lbs. bracket.Schacher defeated Kinsley Prather of Potlatch by technical fall, 15-0, in 3:37. She then won a forfeit in the round robin format. Finally she defeated Rhianne Arthur of Lapwai by pin in 47 seconds after taking a 9-0 lead. Rowland opened her competition by defeating Eleanor Terry of Tekoa-Rosalia by pin in 1:47. She then won by pin over LaciMarie Fontenot of Tekoa-Rosalia in 54 seconds. Finally she lost to Jesse Rice of C.V. in the championship match by pin in 41 seconds. In the Dick Griswold Memorial Boys Tournament, Carson Lockart was the only Prairie wrestler to place as he finished 4th at 175 lbs. Lockart opened with a bye then defeated Grayson Teal of Waitsburg by pin in 5:12, rallying for the win after trailing 8-12. In the semifinals he lost by pin to Gaige Johnson of Bonners Ferry in 1:08. In the consolation semifinals he won by pin over Colt Greene of Lapwai in 1:00. In the third place match he lost by pin in 19 seconds to Gatlin Griffith of Kamiah. Zachary Schumacher wrestled at 138 lbs. In his first match he lost by pin to Cooper Phillips of Colfax in 21 seconds. He then lost to Tyeray Gumfory of Lapwai by pin in 57 seconds. Ashton Martin wrestled at 157 lbs. In his first match he lost by pin to Jackson Hutchens of Pomeroy in 3:25. He then won by pin over Halston Calanchini of Potlatch in 1:17. In the consolation quarterfinals, he lost by pin to Alden Dodd of Bonners Ferry in 1:51. Devon Poxleitner wrestled at 165 lbs. In his first match he lost by technical fall 0-16 in 2:17 to Joel Burris of Colfax. In the consolation quarterfinals he won by pin in 3:24 after taking a 19-9 lead over Byron Collier of Pomeroy. In the consolation semifinals he lost by pin in 44 seconds to Levi Bowen of Pomeroy. Raymond Cross wrestled at 285 lbs. In his first match he lost by pin in 1:00 to Benjamin Knittel of Pomeroy. He then lost by pin in 2:01 to Cooper Watt of Colfax.  Ashton Martin competes against a Nezperce wrestler at C.V.  Devon Poxleitner, who sat out last season with a knee injury, got on the mat last Wednesday at C.V. and won by pin over this Kamiah opponent.  Mikayla Rowland, in only her second ever wrestling match, nearly pinned her Grangeville opponent at C.V. last week.  Zachary Schumacher against a Grangeville wrestler.
