Last week Troop 638 went to Camp Grizzly. Josh of Troop 2 from Olympia, Wash., is part of the staff. He was a big encouragement to all the boys. While there they earned their merit badges in swimming, canoeing, pioneering, wood carving, art, basketry, sculpting, emergency preparedness, leather and shotgun. Kyle Bruegeman was the SPL Shotgun Winner. Shown are Mitchell Jungert, Bruegeman, Garrett Workman, Seth Chaffee, Frank Spencer, Matt Jungert, Dakota Wilson and Drew Cochran. Rick Workman is their leader. Jennifer Cochran and Shari Chaffee were chaperons.

On July 14th, over 200 descendants of Al and Calista Duman Uhlorn gathered for a family reunion. The twelve children of Al and Calista and their extended families were identified in specific colored t-shirts. The day began with the celebration of a Mass at the Assumption Catholic Church. This was followed by a barbecue in the parish hall. After lunch Maurus and Karen Uhlorn hosted the remainder of the reunion at their home, which was the original home place. A sign proudly displaying the 2001 Century Farm plaque sat at the entrance of the homestead where Vern and Peg Uhlorn and Maurus and Karen Uhlorn have farmed and raised their own families. The day was spent visiting, reminiscing, singing, participating in games, and eating. The Uhlorn families gather every five years for a reunion and all are eagerly looking forward to the year 2012.
