On March 13th, nine students
traveled to Kamiah to participate in Hands-On Health presented by the
AHEC and the WWAMI pre-medical programs. Three local healthcare
practitioners met with students to describe their daily work
experiences and educational paths in their chosen careers in
phlebotomy, physical therapy, and nursing. Students were also able to
participate in hands-on activities and simulations including injection
of medicine with the nurses and blood typing with the phlebotomist.

Fifth and sixth
grade students at St. John Bosco Academy recently participated in an
etiquette dinner. The students prepared for the dinner by
discussing etiquette in class, focusing on how to communicate politely
and how to compliment others and servers. They reviewed basic
table manners such as no elbows on the table and that it’s polite to
try everything on the plate. They learned how to cut meat, use a
napkin properly, and show that you are finished eating. They also
had separate boys and girls discussions to focus on gentlemanly and
ladylike behavior. The meal was held in the evening and the students
arrived in dresses and suits. For the meal, the students enjoyed
fancy appetizers, tri-tip, potatoes, sparkling cider, and a brownie
with chocolate ganache and strawberry. Joshua Warren and
Kaelyn Lustig were awarded Mr. and Miss Etiquette.
Following the dinner, the students played an epic game of
kickball in the gym. Pictured are the fifth & sixth
grade with the evening’s hosts, Mr. & Mrs. Barga, as well as Miah
Mager, Catherine Seubert and Mr. Rehder who were servers for the
dinner. Photo by St. John Bosco Academy.
