Mystery Night set for Sept. 17
“The Great Outdoors” is the theme for this year’s Mystery Night hosted by Cottonwood’s own Summit Academy on Sept. 17.  It will be at the hall in Greencreek.  Social hour will be from 6-7:30 p.m.  Silent auction begins at 6 p.m.  Live auction will be going on throughout the evening.  Raffle begins at 7:30 p.m. . . .

Idaho author, Joy Steiner, was at the Prairie Community Library last Thursday, for the close of the Summer Reading Program.  She shared stories and held a book signing for her Idaho alphabet “P is for Potato”.  Pictured with Mrs. Steiner are Hailey Angus and Danielle Cochran.

Awards were presented on the last day of the Summer Reading Program at the Prairie Community Library.  For the younger group: Reading, 1st place Mitchel Nuxoll, 2nd place Sierra Wright, and 3rd place Jared Coppernoll; Attendance, 1st place Jared Coppernoll and Jared Sonnen (tie), and 2nd place Hunter Chaffee and Sierra Wright (tie).  For the older group: Reading, 1st place Katherine Nida, 2nd place Courtney Seubert, and 3rd place Adrianne Nuxoll; Attendance, 1st place Katherine Nida, 2nd place Dakota Wilson, and 3rd place Drew Cochran.  (Not present for picture were Adrianne and Mitchel Nuxoll.)

Staff and teachers attended a Train the Trainer workshop learning how to use Power Grade.  Power School was adopted early last spring as Cottonwood School District's new Administrative program.  Power School has a grade book, student management piece, attendance, lunch program, and report module in one program.  Albertson Foundation awarded Cottonwood School District $40,000 to move to a new program after ISIMS failed to meet the requirements needed to produce the results the state was looking for.  During the teacher inservice day on the 26th of August, the trainers will inservice the rest of the staff on how to use the gradebook and attendance modules.
