Students of the month for February at Prairie High School were Mary Shears and Jason VonBargen. Mary is responsible and thinks for herself.  These two attributes make her a great student.  She can be counted on to have her assignments done daily and also to give her best effort.  She doesn’t quit when she gets stuck, instead she will try another approach until she gets a reasonable result.  These are important qualities for success in school and in life. Jason is a leader in and out of school.  He is a cheerful and active student in classes, asking questions and eager to learn.  He is Vice President of PAVE and is involved with volunteering at school and in the community.  He is also a member of HOSA, the Health Occupations Club.  Jason is also an active Boy Scout and is involved in his Church Youth Group as a Peer Minister

Shown are the 3 winners in the Idaho County Farm Bureau essay contest. Front from left are Joshua Lustig, 1st place; Rhett Schlader, 2nd place and Kayla Schumacher, 3rd place. All 3 are students at Summit Academy and are shown with their teacher, Jenna Goeckner. See story at left.

This informational display and a large number of handouts on breast & cervical cancer, the HPV virus and the new vaccine will be available at the SMHC forums on April 8 in Kamiah and April 14 in Cottonwood. See story at left.
