The Prairie football team with their third place trophy after losing to Oakley in the semifinals Friday, Nov. 9 at Pocatello. Holt Arena has been a chamber of horrors for the Pirates over the years and they are now 0-4 there although this was their closest loss at just 4 points, 22-26. Thank you to Idaho Forest Group and their donation of reading buddies to all Kindergarten and First Grade Students.  Students are practicing their reading and have a buddy to ready with.  Students who read and fill our logs earn incentives.  Thank you to Meagan Bashaw for organizing this event for our students.  Top photo is Ashley Sowa’s Kindergarten class. Taylor Lustig, a senior at Summit Academy,, top photo,  receives her first place award in the VFW’s Voice of Democracy competition from Post Commander Dave Frei. She was then asked to give her speech. In the lower photo Kristyna Krogh received her third place award at the Veterans Day assembly on Monday as she was unable to attend the VFW banquet. 2nd place winner Nicole Rehder was unavailable for a photo.  Kaylie Lockett, a Prairie 6th grader, tp photo, receives her first place award in the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen award from Dave Frei. She was then asked to read her essay.  In the middle photo Mary Schwartz, a Prairie fifth grader, receives her second place award. Mattie Lustig, a sophomore at Prairie High School has been a volunteer at the Prairie Community Library for the past year.   As an avid reader, Mattie enjoys working in the library and is proud of her accomplishment of labeling books for children participating in the Accelerated Reading Program.  AR is designed to encourage independent reading at a child’s own level and pace.   Each of the  books in the selection has the reading level and number of points earned after the book is read.  Mattie is the daughter of Bob and April Lustig.
