Members of the Cottonwood Gun Club are shown with the championship plaque for the 10-Week Shoot. It was the third time we’re aware of that Cottonwood won it and the first since 1998. Photo submitted by Jean Spencer. See story at left for awards winners. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Walkers head out from the mouth of Graves Creek on the road to Pine Bar during the first of this year’s Partnership for Healthy Communities health walks. Cold, wet weather probably kept the number of participants down. The second walk is this coming Saturday, April 13, starting at Cottonwood City Park. Signup is 8:30 a.m. and the walk is set to start at 9. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Cottonwood Creek apparently overflowed its banks early Tuesday morning in the top photo where it goes into the culvert under Lewiston St. Above and left you can see where the Fire Dept. put out sandbags to try and keep downtown businesses from flooding. According to Gary Riener they were out about 3:30 a.m. putting out sandbags but that the overflow never quite got above the curbs. He said if the downpour that hit around 1:30 a.m. had continued they would have had a lot of flooding. The middle  photo is Main Street with the bottom photo being Fred’s Body Shop. We hope to have some photos taken by Cottonwood Police Chief Terry Cochran in our next update. Click on each photo for a larger view.
