This is a picture of 4 of the 6 airplanes that flew into the Cottonwood Municipal Airport last Wednesday night. It was a group of friends from Wisconsin who make the trip each year. They were enroute from the Washington coast to Johnson Creek on the Salmon River for a campout. They pitched tents at the airport and spent the night here after a meal in town. When asked "Why did you stop in Cottonwood?" the answer was"Nice facility, fuel, a place to camp and the hospitality." Economic impact to the community for the overnighter--about $700. The aircraft ranged from 2 Cessna 185's to an Aeronca Champ. Photo provided by Denis Duman.
