The PHS Dance team is shown with the state trophy they earned March 17 at the State High School Dance Competition. They earned 3rd place in the Kick Division. See story at left.

Summit Academy students during rehearsal for their Spring play “Pot of Gold” which will be performed at the school this Thursday through Saturday. Performances are set for 7 p.m. each day plus a 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday, all at Summit Academy on the north edge of town. They will also have a spaghetti feed prior to the Thursday and Saturday evening performances.

Prairie Middle School held an assembly on March 16 where Farm Bureau Essay Contest winners were announced. Jared Higgins, son of Brad and Cindy Higgins, placed third and Leah Holthaus, daughter of Roger and Alica Holthaus, placed second. Students wrote essays on agriculture and how it plays a role in our lives.


The Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce presented several one year chamber memberships to new businesses and/or business owners in the area. Pictured are Bo Rose from B&A Performance Auto in Greencreek (top photo) and Randy Thompson with Thompson’s Pawn in Cottonwood (lower photo). Others receiving memberships were Bonnie Sailor new owner of The Coffee Mill Creation, Eric Wassmuth with CP Bio-Diesel Supplies and Sara Gradillas and Colleen Brainar new owners of the Royal Room..

Sonessa Lundmark (left), Art teacher at Prairie Middle School, received a donation of four boxes of yarn and needles from the Loosely Knit group at the Monastery of St. Gertrude. Also pictured are Sr. Miriam Mendez, Sr. Evangela Bossert and Nov. Kim Marie Jordan.



In the above three photos participants in the Prairie Horizons program are filling out a pre-survey on their awareness of poverty and its effects in rural communities.
