Biking the Butte
Summit Academy students came out in full force Saturday, May 12 to challenge themselves to bike to the top of the butte.  The students are currently trying to raise as much money for their school as they can.  They have all been sending out pledges for their bike-a-thon to accomplish the “50 State Challenge.”   . . .

The Veteran’s Memorial at the Cottonwood City Park has an addition as a mounting block for the plaque dedicating the monument to the memory of Rex Bunney has been completed. The plaque is the one you see Ellen Bunney holding in the picture on the community calendar. 

The first graders at the Prairie Elementary spring concert last week. 

Attendance winners for April at Prairie Middle School were Sam Poxleitner, left, and Garrett Schmidt. Sam won a card-making kit with a pink purse filled with Bath and Body Works goodies while Garret won a kite and a box of cologne. 

The Cottonwood Wanders presented a big Thank You poster-board to Melissa, Debbie and Ron for making all the pizza's for their fundraiser. The club ended up selling 70 pizza's. They would like to Thank everyone who helped with purchasing pizza's and supporting the 4-H program. 

Holli Uhlorn and her dance class perform at dance dress rehearsal. Shirley's Dance Studio, Grangeville classes, will hold a spring recital at Grangeville High School Saturday, May 12, 6 p.m. The public is invited to this free event that showcases dancers from Grangeville and Cottonwood. On Tuesday, May 22, dancers will be performing at Grangeville Health and Rehab. at 3:30 p.m. and then at Heritage Square at 5 p.m. Teacher Shirley Wilson Sears is celebrating her 50th year as a dance instructor. 

During Hospital Week St. Mary’s employees and family members helped clean-up a section of highway 95 between Cottonwood and Grangeville. St. Mary’s Hospital adopted this section of highway back in 1999 and is responsible for cleaning it at least once every year.
