Blood drive falls short of goal
This is a belated report on the July 10 Red Cross Blood drive.   There is some good news and some bad news.  Our goal was 90 usable units of blood.  The good news is that there were 91 donors through the door.  The bad news is that there were 19 donors deferred making a total of 72 usable units. . . .

A Rustic road trip
The Ilo-Vollmer Historical Society in Craigmont recently went on a tour of the old town site of Rustic, located between Westlake and Cottonwood.  As is the case with many of these old places, there isn’t much left to see, but owner Mark Nuttman treated the group to a guided tour, pointing out the places that he recalled being pointed out to him by his father and grandfather. . . .

The current Idaho County Fair Royalty showed their scrapbooks to the candidates for the 2008 royalty at the Royalty Picnic last week at the Fairgrounds. Fair queen Casandra Schaeffer reads to the children at the Summer Reading Program.  Princesses Jennifer Enneking and Bonnie Reilly were there also.  This week is the last week of the Summer Reading Program.  The program will be held in the City Park this week from 1:00 to 3:00. 

The Prairie High School class of 1987 held their 20-year class reunion July 7 at Keuterville. Attending were: front from left-Jennifer (Jungert) Stubbers, Brent Goeckner, Allen Sonnen, Darren Oke, Stacie (Hood) Dinning, Gabe Riener, Denise (Boller) Brando, Shannon Schmidt, Marne (Arnzen) Mullins; Shelley (Duclos) Schwartz, Julie (Schumacher) Orcutt, Sally (Lute) McCrea, Marlie (Lightfield) Crocker and Debbie Wensman. Back from left are Ralph Kehler, Joe Nuxoll, Tom Seubert, Brian Forsmann, Chuck Seubert, Melvin Sonnen, Kurt Riener, Jill (Riener) Linville and Mike Mader. The descendants of Herb and Dolores Seubert held the first ever 7S family reunion at the family farm in Cottonwood on July 13th and 14th.  54 members attended and ranged in age from 9 days to 82 years old and traveled from as far away as Japan.  Activities included volleyball, horseshoes, holeyboard, softball, visiting, and eating.  A special treat were the homemade pies made by Dolores.  All are looking forward to the next reunion in two years.
